a. A blood bank non-profit does not pay donors for blood products. The blood products are transfused into the other.
b. A center for plasma-profit pay donors for plasma. This plasma is then sold to manufacturers of drugs and drug research companies.
3. The Red Cross follows the guidelines of the FDA for screening blood donors. This will keep the supply of safe blood. What are these guidelines? http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/ ...
4. Plasma Centers may have additional guidelines from your plasma will be used to make drugs and drug research. For example, you may be deferred (refused) if you are taking certain medications.
