Cancer Chemotherapy

Cancer ChemotherapyIs there a type of cancer for which chemotherapy is not an option?

If you know of a type of cancer where chemotherapy can not help, I am very interested to know.

Is an interesting question. I did not find the cancers that may never, under any circumstances, exclude chemotherapy as an option. Prostate cancer is usually treated with radiotherapy. Some brain tumors are treated with gamma knife surgery. Esophageal cancer is more likely to be treated by radiotherapy. However, I can only say radiotherapy or surgery (brain tumor) are generally used for some cancers. I can not find those who might never consider chemotherapy. Chemo is a rare cancer of the prostate, though.

frequently, cancers of the brain can not be treated with chemotherapy drugs will not cross the blood-brain barrier.

I had kidney cancer when I was a baby, but I had chemo. I know for many cancers you can have radiotherapy. Example. cervix.

Well, there are many cancers that can be treated with chemotherapy. If the cancer is terminal it is unlikely that chemotherapy might work.

Me know it will be more of a generic response from a specific type of cancer that does not need chemo, but ........... I'd say the cancer is inoperable ones, terminal, and the patient did not have much time fall into this category. In these cases, we personally influence their quality of life remaining compared to side effects of any type of treatment. Especially knowing that in these cases, treatment will not improve their condition or prolong their lives. JMHO

The treatment of any disease is sepcific patient and medical team can make decisions based on a number of factors. However, there are some cancers where chemotherapy does not work.
eostrogen receptor positive breast cancer
mesothelioma (a form of lung cancer from asbestos assosciated)
prostate cancer where the disease has not spread to other areas.

Other types are less susceptible to certain types of chemotherapy (ie brain is not affected by chemotherapy IV), but it can still be provided through other means (interstitial)

brain tumors and spine tend to be treated with radiation rather than chemotherapy.
