Cancer, The Big Kahuna " The World Health Organization recently reported that by 2010 cancer will replace heart disease as the number one killer worldwide. I was a little surprised to learn that I had always thought of cancer as number one for a long time. I realize other diseases such as heart disease, AIDS, diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer \ 'are bad in themselves, but for me, cancer has always been the \ "Big Kahuna \ "for all. I t \ 'think there is someone who Hasn t \' somehow seen or felt the effects. For example, I lost my grandmother to ovarian cancer years earlier. I've also seen friends and relatives of other battles to lose lung and brain cancer. Its all quite disturbing to see people cut this way.
Recently, a high school buddy old mine has lost his battle against lung cancer. Mike was a journalist who has lived and worked in Washington. He was very active and appears to be in good physical shape. It is interesting to smoking your \ Mike was not yet he developed a tumor the size of a golf ball in his left lung. After it was discovered and treatment prescribed, Mike developed a positive attitude, as he went to fight with the beast. As a writer, he would send his friends frequent updates on his progress, even after his operation. For a while it looked like he was going to beat him, but, unfortunately, causing an infection developed, doctors to open again and it doesn \ 't survive. It struck near the house that Mike was my age and a good guy. It particularly bothered me that he had lung cancer, even if it was a non-smoker and his family had no history of disease.
The disturbing part of cancer is that the public really doesn \ 't that many know about it. He has been with us for so long that I think we take for granted. For example, I was not \ 't know that there are now more than 100 forms of cancer such as lung, breast, brain, prostate, skin, pancreas, leukemia, etc. years ago when You have been diagnosed with cancer You were basically given your last rites. But the medical community has made progress over the last fifty years and cancer is now primarily treated with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Regardless of whether progress, cancer is always headed by number one as the WHO points out, and it is a \ "Big Kahuna \ 'we could do without.
