I am currently on chemotherapy and I need nutritious recipes, HELP.? With my googling and yahooing I get lots of food, but I would like some ideas for actual meal, please. :)
I'm on Chemo too, and my oncologist told me to eat what I want when I want. I can not take vitamins so i drink cranberry juice for urinary tract infections, eating watermelon and bananas for potassium, eat game sirloin steak and chicken livers for iron which helps red blood cells . A cookie hot oatmeal and a glass of whole milk to provide calcium and vitamin D and do me good. Hummus as a dip with thin trisection are rich in fiber. So you get the idea how I eat. If you want you can click on my avatar that will enable you to my email. Keep it fun.
I was on chemo for almost a year and during my radiation treatment to the oncologist told me to eat whatever I wanted, because it can affect taste and smell. She told incoroporate fruit and vegetables and try to make the salad at least once a day or every two days and we do a lot of fruit salad in our house, but it is important to have a balanced diet of any kind.
If you go to www.after-cancer.com/food and view the article on Celebrity Chefs, there is a recipe for Cranachan - decadent, delicious and full of good things! The remaining articles were based on new information system, etc., but really - eat what you think you can. Our bodies are very sensitive, and if you suddenly find you want one - it's what you need.
Good luck
