Get a chiropractic x-ray? I'm going to a chiropractor for my back and neck tomorrow. My cousin was in this specific chiropractor. He said they made him do an x-ray which has cost nearly $ 40.
Is the procedure x-ray any different from a normal x-ray, which I can do for free right here in Toronto?
Thank you
As a non-trained Osteopath we make a similar role to Chiropractors in the North American continent and do not require radiographs.
Chiropractors around the world are moving away from X-ray and less of them are doing them. Interpretation of radiography and the diagnosis is considered a skill in itself and is usually not necessary to assess and treat musculoskeletal model.
I do not quite see where Dr. J is that patients often have an influence of different weight models and non-weight bearing. According to the models not Osteopathic weight bearing restrictions are normally considered as primary and restrictions of weight bearing side. Given this, if I wanted I'd be more inclined radiography demand not those concerning the weight it would be more likely to show the primary restrictions. I can not FORSEE the situation where I could not test to see and / or restrictions in any patient unless they weighed 30 stone.
Personally I find particularly useful radiograph to determine whether injuries or fractures occupation of space are present or abnormal structures, but I have not been trained as a. Doctor J
Whether or not radiography is valid is debatable least $ 40 is a fair price for them when the cost of the equipment and skills in question are known.
Personally, if I could not take my own x-rays and I am inclined to find another doctor if I was concerned.
The plates are taken in standard positions.
There is no reason why you can not take X-rays from Toronto to him, to do whether they are free.
Most chiropractors I've known are very well with someone who is a recent movie in another office.
If they insist on making their own, it makes me Leary.
I work for a chiropractor and we do not "need" radiographs. There are other ways, they can check you. Just tell them that you DO NOT WANT films taken
Hi Ahmad. I am a former chiropractor. An X-ray Chiropractic "is produced with the support of the patient's weight (standing) in a standard, neutral position. This allows a good biomechanical evaluation of spinal structures.
"Most medical x-rays" are performed with the patient lying and / or less than optimal / repeatable neutral. These films may be useful to assess fractures, infections, lesions occupying the space, etc. - but they are not useful for biomechanical interpretations.
But given what I said above about the differences in the two types of X-rays when I was in practice, I used to review existing X-ray of a patient before recommending additional pictures. Often, combining the results of my physical examination with less than optimal medical X-rays, I could still make a treatment plan for the patient.
Clearly, if the patient has not responded adequately to the treatment plan, or if indeed the case required additional (if) X-rays, then I would recommend them.
Best wishes and good luck.
