Provide information to help pay for the storage of cord blood PRIVATE? I live in Mass, will help pay for the storage of cord blood for private low-income families?
Not to my knowledge. . . storage of cord blood is not considered medically necessary. You can make a donation, but I do not think the state will pay for you to keep for your own use, if necessary.
You may want to try calling the New England Cord Blood Bank - they are local and many couples choose to donate to them (as we wanted, but they do not take the twins for some reason). They have a program to open their bank cord blood donated to families with low incomes who need matches, etc.. . . and one program where you can apply for a grant of $ 800 for the cost to store your own. Being in Newton and be a local company, it would not hurt to ask.

Nope. As another person said, this is not a medical necessity. Its something that is extra.
Moreover, in reality the chances of needing cord blood are slim, the chances that a child be able to use their own cord blood when sick is thin, and there is a state bank of cord blood donor for patients who need cord blood, but not na-saving.
If you can not or do banking, you should consider donating. It does not cost you anything, but you will have some work to do leg put in place.
http://www.marrow.org is the link to the marrow donor program national, which the U.S. takes care of the public cord bank and donations.
