Directed Blood Donation

Directed Blood DonationCan you make a donation directed to a person who undergoes an operation in another state?

My cousin is having a liver transplant. I know you can donate blood led to someone you know having a surgery, but I do not know if it should be local. My cousin is in another state.

If you make a donation by the American Red Cross and your cousin will be his blood by the CRA, it may be possible. If will be another blood bank (local only), sorry, you're out of luck. Just because you give a directed donation, does not mean the person will be blood (other than those with blood group matching can make a directed donation). It is used to help defray the high costs of blood transfusion.

Anyway, I highly recommend giving blood - are all places of business in a chronic shortage of blood, and if you have a rare, yours will be particularly useful. When you go to make a donation, or call to make an appointment, they can answer all your questions about directed donations. Good luck to you, and your cousin!

you can do it but you HVE state which is wher ethey are and you have to pay for it I think

Does he need blood? If he needs blood and your match I'm sure they will some how pay for your blood delivered to them. Let his family know and they let their insurance knowledge, and they must take care of the rest.
But if you just do it out of the goodness of your heart, so the only way you get up there to pay yourself.
Hope this helps have a blessed day, Slowboy.
