Eyelid SurgeryEyelid Surgery or Brow lift?

Eyelid surgery and brow lifts are the most common procedures of cosmetic surgery available. The reason they are so popular because they can help eliminate forehead wrinkles and furrows and sagging tissue above the eyes - all characteristics that can make a person appear tired, angry, sad or more they should. The results of these procedures can help patients look younger, more alert, vibrant and energetic. In extreme cases, an eyelid lift can also help patients with significant eyelid sag to see more clearly.

Then, what factors should you consider when deciding whether you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery, brow lift one or both? Dr. Robert V. Mandraccia, a successful plastic surgeon whose practice is in Bonita Springs, Florida, helps to explain the difference between the two procedures and when they are most beneficial.

"If you have wrinkles or furrows in the brow area, but relatively few signs of aging on the lower half of your face and forehead lift is an option to consider cosmetic surgery," said Mandraccia. "When a brow lift excess skin is removed from your brow and the muscles are tight. Often, a brow lift can also help lift sagging skin above your eyes if this decline is relatively small. But if you have a Much of fat and sagging skin on the eyelids, forehead lift may not be an effective solution.

For patients who are too fat in the eyelid and the skin, a blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is generally recommended. During a blepharolplasty surgeon like Dr. Mandraccia will remove excess skin and fatty tissue through a small incision placed in a natural crease of the eyelid. The results of eyelid surgery can be very dramatic, making the eyes appear much younger without any visible scars.

If a patient has moderate signs of aging in the forehead and eye area, as well as visible signs of aging on lower half of the face, Dr. Mandraccia may recommend that a patient undergoing a facelift both as a forehead lift or eyelift.

"The danger in the exercise of his forehead and eyes open on a patient with jaws sagging or wrinkles on the lower half of the face and neck is that the face is not consistent appearance after surgery, explains Dr. Mandraccia. "This may be a telltale sign that the patient has had cosmetic surgery and the overall results are generally not desirable. If this is the case, I would recommend a facelift or liposuction of the face to the same time if the entire face and neck is uniform. "
