cancer patients can eat food while chemo? I need a better idea when it comes to preparing breakfast for my father. About two months ago he was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma and when radiation is underway. He was prescribed Nexavar as chemotherapy, and has one side effect - diahrea. He can not have dairy products or anything too fatty. But the doctor wants him to gain weight. Has anyone been in the same situation? Or similar, I need a basic principle of what to cook for him or buy him this way. PLEASE HELP ??!?!
I went to Barnes and Nobel store and spent four hours in the section of books on cancer research everything you need to know about the disease.
There were books on what to eat when you are on chemotherapy. I'm not sure what medication your father does to the body. So, I would talk to her oncologist to see what they say.
Or read about him, to get answers to your question. I'm sorry, that's all I can offer, breast cancer is what I'm familiar with ... Unfortunately.
Chemo may also affect the taste of food so he can eat can be trial and error. I found the eggs, potatoes and tomatoes were the only foods that tasted good. There were days when I could not get to eat two or three bites I enjoyed the pasta with marinara sauce. Weight Watchers used to make angel hair, pasta with marinara sauce that has been a life saver for me.
