Irish Blood Bank

Irish Blood BankConnemara Coastal Ride

Monday

I told Julie, "not typical of hot water."

Julie said: "Try the cold."

water Bingo! Lovely hot very necessary after the adventure today. We never mounted wherever it is twenty miles behind you campaign and in front of you, and you can not tell where you're going to end!

I told our guide Leagh Willie, "Not many English horses could face this difficult terrain." He said: "Not many runners in English either!" We drove around Willie's Mountain-Shannadell.

Besides the multitude of Irish horse flies suck blood, some the size of cockroaches, yellow, red or blue head, our race was a first day like we've never experienced before in fifty years of riding. Narrow tracks, between the white stones, which wound their way through deep bogs black! Venture off the tracks at your own risk! You do not need to touch the reins, that these clever "bog trotters" know their stuff.

lakes glistened in the sunlight, views covered hundreds of miles, and not a power line in sight!

"Just pull gently on the reins."

JUST GENTLY pull on the driver's seat "was shouted by our guide - Jackqui - like our companion bounce German - Ulli - missing the field by Willie Mastering horse!

Tuesday

Who needs Monty Roberts when you Willie! Our health and safety in mind, fifteen horses were herded into a coral 20x20, and we were told to take our flanges and find your horse in the mel?. These artful Dodgers spun and dodged aside out of reach. Once you hand on mane, you have to cling to him for the death until the dark horse, you can tack it up! Surprisingly there were no injuries, kicks and bites are not part of their defense. We are now really in the rhythm of this!

"Mountain and moorland" has taken on a whole new meaning today!

At this moment we can not think of enough good words to describe today's experience, we had the most exciting tour EVER! Our group of travel companions, including two Germans, four Italians, three Americans, two Irish guides have ridden on long stretches of white sand silver, swam in the sea on his horse and disappeared through three feet deep Sea Island to Finish. Here, we jumped stone walls, past the ruins of a village, took up Irish banks and real lives beautiful rare wild orchids.

The air is so clear and clean, the sea so calm and welcoming, the vast and rugged coastline, people are very friendly and the most delicious food!

The days are so long and full of adventures so much!

And our group holiday colleagues are very fun!

Wednesday

At breakfast, the anticipation and excitement was palpable. Sharing our experiences have really gelled the group. This morning we had an unforgettable day on the beach riding Mweenish, in which Nicola found her feet riding! Anita, our beautiful Italian, leaned toward me and whispered: "Cilia do not tell Willie, but it's better than sex!" I said "I already told him yesterday!"

After lunch, we returned to the mountains above the village of Kilkerrin, with spectacular views of this beautiful coastline. We drove on mountain land, grass past the batteries and in areas of deep swamps black, passing an abandoned quarry and along the coast Derrymish.

Two of our companions were Freya 11 years and 12 years Indi. They walked every day for six hours, covering twenty five miles a day and never complained when they wanted more speed. They played and laughed and sang and contributed to the wonderful ambience of the whole each day.

We kept running non-stop for four miles to our destination at night, leaving riders with sores in unmentionable places!
