Question on mental health and children? LOL also your children driving you nuts, does anyone suffering from mental disorders such as ADD, PTSD, severe depression, stuff like that, and he never makes your effective parent? How do you react? I'm good enough to deal with it, but sometimes I just kind of get into a slump ... advice?
We do not have children yet, but my husband has some mild PTSD. and sometimes lack of compassion, according to what he experienced. I think the road it will likely affect her parenting style, but I know what he will be a very good father. for having children with such disorders, I think it is a bridge crossing when you get to him. my mother is a social worker asigned to all children with mental retardation or disorder in our region. I get lots of info and support from here.
The ADD must be in your mind so you can achieve when it dictate your actions. To break the rut I entitled to a list, then follow blindly until I started coming again.
I have not been officially diagnosed because I'm too much of a wimp to go talk to a doctor, but I have a phobia important enough that sometimes affect my life and my parents because I will go so far of my way to avoid things that cause them. My brother, a parent too, has suffered from PTSD, major depression and panic attacks. I do not know the answer to how to deal with short seek medical advice - even if you previously, because some solutions that used to work just stop working. I pause for a crisis, though. Nobody says they are in a slump when they are in bed with a raging fever when another type of chronic illness is the head. I think the mental health problems get the same thing.
