Jimmy's Hospital involved in the explosion The main access route to the hospital on Jimmy Beckett Street was closed to the public after an explosion.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: "One of the main access routes to Jimmy had been closed, but the emergency department was still operating normally.
Emergency services launched a major operation to protect hospital patients, staff and residents.
Fortunately, five people were injured in the blast and were treated at St James Hospital.
There have been allegations that residents had felt the gas earlier in the day before the explosion of advertising.
United Utilities said, "the company gas network had not received reports of a gas leak. The first they knew of any gas leak was after the explosion.
The main doors of the hospital is located opposite the Fountain Head pub, where the explosion occurred.
The April 22 explosion ripped through the former Florence Nightingale pub in Becket Street. The pub is owned by Ales Mansfield and had not been open for some time.
The roof of the pub was torn by the explosion and the first floor windows were also broken.
Three 18-storey blocks of apartments that overlook the pub where also shaken by the explosion that sent tremors through the buildings.
A student who witnessed the explosion has spoken of the following saying: "I could not believe how much damage was caused. There was smoke everywhere and the pub was just gone and broken into pieces. "
Debris from the explosion of the pub has also been left scattered across the area leaving several cars damaged.
A resident of Shakespeare Court said: "I could feel the whole building shake and the noise of the explosion was deafening.
