Is a law school degree online reputable? I think of going to law school and my job is offering a tuition by Kaplan University. However, the law program is online 100% and I'm not sure of a reputable law degree online is in the real world. Do I put myself in a disadvantageous position to find employment after graduation b / c I got my law degree online?
The first question to ask is whether the school is accredited by the ABA. If it is not accredited by the ABA, I would be very careful. It is quite difficult to find a job when you graduated from the ABA accredited school, I would say you would have a significant rise downstream if you do not have that degree. In addition, you can not take the bar (the test to become a lawyer) in many states, unless you have graduated from an accredited law school.
Long and short .... I do not want to go to law school with a 100%. Its just too risky. Give him a few years and the law school may have caught up with undergraduate degrees online.
no u do not do online the chance to experience a college and this is not a good education
There is no line ABA approved law schools, and as another poster said, it's pretty hard to find a job right out of law school ranked low, never mind one who ABA is not even approved! Do not do that. Avoid at all costs.
Is there no ABA approved law school near you that offers degrees part-time? And if so, does your company offer any kind of tuition reimbursement plan?
I've been able to avoid post-graduate/masters Kaplan U. They are not even accredited at the regional level, and they have a bad reputation with employers. The fact that your employer actually offers a discount through them kind of boggles my mind.
Here's one more person to tell you not to bother obtaining a law degree online. 90% of what is learned in law school is the result of interaction between students and teachers. Not to mention, as others have said, you will probably never be able to sit for a bar, because no law school online is accredited by the ABA.
