I know there is a way to get a paternity test during pregnancy, can someone tell me about it? My girlfriend told me she is pregnant, and he also admitted that she had been cheating on me. Now we can get a paternity test, let me know before the birth, so we know whose name is on the birth certificate.
I agree with Melissa. The procedure of amniocentesis tell you, but it is invasive and can cause a miscarriage. It will also cost you a lot of money.
Wait until the baby is born. You can now stop a few days to complete the name on the birth certificate. Or you can simply use the surname of the mother and then it can be changed later.
the only way to do is amniocentesis. the physician must decide to do. but more likely you will wait until the baby is born.
It can be done, but is not sure at all. It is extremely invasive and can cause a miscarriage. More often, they use amniocentesis, which is inserting a needle into the placenta to draw amniotic fluid to test.
You can do this during pregnancy, but most doctors will not do it because it can cause miscarriage, just wait until the baby is born, and a blood test is so much safer.
A paternity test done during pregnancy is only done if there is a medical reason to do a amniocentisis. Otherwise, you must wait until the baby is born. Contact your hospital and know in advance the procedures for paternity testing, as it must be paid anyway. The tests at the hospital is usually completed within 2-3 days.
most places will not do anything until the baby was 6 months old. I heard of a paternity test before birth, but never really ever heard of anyone doing so. Sorry, you just have to wait until the baby is six months old. So just wait until the baby can have the name of mothers. also its a very risky procedure and your girlfriend probably would not want to do.
Amniocentesis is not the only way to get a prenatal paternity test done. Check http://www.dnaplus.com
Once your girlfriend is 13 weeks pregnant atleast she can have this test done. She should call the lab to the website listed above to arrange collection at a facility near her. They will take a sample of his blood, which poses little or no risk, and to isolate fetal cells that have been thrown in his blood. They will then use these fetal cells to create a DNA profile for the baby, allowing them to compare the potential father (s).
The parent (s) may submit blood samples, hair or buccal (cheek aka) swab.
This test is quite expensive and are not covered by insurance. No paternity test is covered by insurance, however, that this is not a medically necessary procedure. Even amniocentesis (which is not only for DNA) tests on paternity will not be fully covered by insurance medically necessary part of the test can be, but the test of paternity will not.
I wish you all the best ...
I wondered, too. Since I recently discovered that I may be pregnant. What would the father does not believe that I am pregnant and I am sure will try to accuse me of being unfaithful.
I heard good. But I thought it unlikely. My suggestion is that the baby is born to go to court for a paternity test and they will change the name if it is not yours.
