What is Gynaecology? Gynaecology is typically considered a specialty consultant and, in some countries it is necessary for women to first see a GP who is a physician who is also known as a family physician (FP) to see a gynecologist. While the GP has not skills, technology, equipment, surgical techniques, the training and knowledge necessary for diagnosis, the patient is referred to a gynecologist.
In many countries of course you do not have to visit a GP before seeing a gynecologist, because they can provide primary care, in addition to their specialty. Today, women face a lot of stress and disease, and for overall health, all aspects of the organization needs to be supported. The mating system as such is a very delicate and requires a specialty that offers the gynecologist.
The main diagnostic tool they use is the clinical history and physical examination. This review is very intimate and is certainly more of a routine medical examination. This procedure also requires special instruments such as the speculum. The speculum consists of two hinged blades of concave shape to extract tissue from the vagina and permit a full examination of the cervix is the lower part of the uterus located in the upper vagina.
Gynaecologist usually conduct a bimanual: it is a hand on the abdomen and one or two fingers into the vagina to palpate the uterus, cervix, ovaries and bony pelvis. It is not uncommon to make a rectovaginal examination to fully evaluate the basin especially if any suspicious masses are detected.
male gynecologists generally chaperones women as nurses or medical students when the review is underway. A vaginal or abdominal ultrasound may also be used to confirm any abnormalities in case detection during the bimanual examination or when indicated by patient history.
